CYCLOPS

In the 3rd room are 5 sculptures by Susan Rodgers. The left side of “Cyclops” is a blue wooden rectangle to which is attached a spiraling wire; the spiral suggests the single ye of the title. The formal qualities of this piece are noteworthy. The two minimal materials are in tension themselves, but the multiple shadows of the spire suggest another world of ideal forms, that the viewer can only imagine. These vibrations of meanings are what we have come to expect from Rodgers’ art.
