PAINTED ALUMINUM

The experience of living in Key West has most influenced Rodgers in her growing use of color. On top of the rich color and the intense light of the island is the almost constnt movement of wind, agitating the palms and making alive elemental forms we live with. Those movements, that light, those colors Rodgers captures within her structured world.

In the piece titled “Yellow Seas”, Rodgers uses primary colors , yellow and blue, on overlaid aluminum sheets and brushed through to produce a striking work that floats and curves the surface as you watch it.
